MAIKO TAMURA

​田村　麻衣子

Maiko is a Tokyo-based freelance Japanese-English translator and interpreter specializing in the film and entertainment industry. With extensive experience in both Hollywood and Japan, she translates Japanese films, scripts, and manga into English and provides interpreting services for international productions, press events, and film festivals.

Her career began in Hollywood, where she worked as a bilingual assistant to the president of an award-winning film production company based at Paramount Studios. During this time, she became a licensed cosmetologist in California while immersing herself in the film industry. After returning to Japan, she joined a Tokyo-based film distribution company as the manager of international film acquisitions, handling negotiations and fostering relationships at major international film festivals worldwide.

As a founding member of Tokyo Comic-Con, she played a key role in coordinating and collaborating with cultural icons such as Steve Wozniak, Stan Lee, Tom Hiddleston, and Jeremy Renner. Her clients include acclaimed Japanese filmmakers such as Sion Sono and Takashi Miike, and she continues to work on high-profile entertainment projects that connect Japan with global audiences.

Driven by a passion for bridging cultures through entertainment, she leverages her bilingual expertise and industry insights to foster cross-cultural understanding and bring compelling stories to life across languages.

広島県出身、東京を拠点に活動する、映画・エンターテイメント業界専門の日英／英日フリーランス通訳・翻訳者。ハリウッドと日本の両方で培った豊富な経験を活かし、邦画の英語字幕、映画脚本・漫画の日英翻訳を手がけるほか、国際映画祭、映画/TV制作現場における通訳/制作業務を行う。

高校で単身アメリカ・フロリダ州に渡り、卒業と同時にNYへ移住。大学入学を機にLAへ移住し、カリフォルニア州の大学を卒業。大学在学中に同州のコスメトロジスト（美容師）免許を取得。ロサンゼルスでは、パラマウントスタジオにオフィスを構えるハリウッド映画製作会社でCEO専属のバイリンガルアシスタントを務め、映画製作の現場で実践的な知識を習得。卒業後はニューヨークに戻り、トライベッカ地区のアートギャラリーで勤務しながら、雑誌・映画・MVのメイクアシスタントとしても活動。帰国後、国内の化粧筆メーカーに勤務したのち、外国映画配給会社に転職。国際映画買付マネージャーとして、カンヌ国際映画祭をはじめとする世界各国の映画祭に参加し、映画買付や国内版権営業に従事。

その後、日米両方で培った知識と経験を活かし、映画を中心とするエンタメに特化したフリーランスの通訳・翻訳者として独立。日本の優れたコンテンツを世界に届けたいという思いを胸に、邦画の英語字幕翻訳、映画脚本・漫画の日英翻訳、さらにはハリウッド映画・TVシリーズの日本撮影時における俳優・プロデューサー専属通訳や制作業務を幅広く手がける。

東京コミコンの創設メンバーとして、第1回目よりゲストリレーションを担当。スティーブ・ウォズニアック、故スタン・リー、トム・ヒドルストン、マッツ・ミケルセン、ジェレミー・レナーといった海外の著名人と密接に連携し、通訳のみならずイベント運営全般をサポート。

日本と世界をつなぐ架け橋となり、言葉と文化の壁を越えて、日本の魅力あるコンテンツを世界に届けることに力を注いでいる。
